Miss us?  We both have new blogs.  (Not the travel type, that’s a little too 2007.)  Check them out.

KNOTS TIED IN STRINGS: JULY 2007—MARCH 2008

FINISHED, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.

I got back to New Zealand a while ago.  It’s nice, it’s warm.  But it’s no North America.  This also sort of means that Knots is over with.  Booooo.

Quick recap: After getting back from my Atlantic roadtrip with Ben, I had a week to farewell Toronto.  James and Lauren took the bus up to Quebec to do a little last-minute sightseeing of their own before flying to Lauren’s parent’s place in Grass Valley.

My last week in Toronto mostly involved:

  1. Being sad that I was leaving the tidy Toronto metropolis and neat North America.
  2. Being grateful that I was swapping hemispheres and thus seasons.
  3. Stocking up on clothes.
  4. Going to an all-night Rambo marathon that included the premiere of the fourth installment.
  5. Making peace with landlord Luis over our surprise departure (I waited until I got to the departure lounge of Lester B. Pearson International Airport before using my last Virgin Mobile credit to let him know that we were all moved out–this way he couldn’t track me down–but the poor guy still didn’t realise that we were leaving the country, kindly offering me furnishings for my “new Toronto apartment” and an invitation to visit anytime I’m in the neighbourhood).
  6. Breaking peace with landlord Luis by leaving James’s unsold bed in the flat, and not leaving the house key that James mistakingly took to Quebec with him.

To fight war, youve gotta become war.

James is in Grass Valley now with Lauren, and will soon be living solo in Vancouver due to US visa issues.  Read more about this and his hostel-livin’, vending machine noodle-eatin’ existence at his breakaway blog, The Corner Store.  He’ll be back downunder mid-year.

He’ll forget to bring my cowboy hat back with him.  I will be sad.

Some have been thought brave because they were afraid to run away.

So long, and thanks for your eyes.
