James

James comes from a background in Wellington Student Media and would probably like people to refer to him as a freelance writer. Which is dubious, considering that since leaving the prestigious post of Salient Editor he has put food on the table by tutoring Media Studies and spending weekends getting up cripplingly early to be a sub-editing monkey at the New Zealand Press Association.

He’ll probably be finished an honours degree soon too, but it’s taken him a while.  James follows and (sometimes) attempts to play all major country club sports (cricket, tennis, rugby, golf), and likes to think that his new found appreciation for the NBA makes him a bit hipper than he probably is.

When not trying to enjoy early ’90s gangster rap ironically (Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube being particular favourites) or reciting spoken word renditions of Dr. Dre’s “Ed-Ucation”, James listens to the standard array of music you’d expect someone to listen to who owns more than one jacket and doesn’t work an office job.

Politically a little left after shedding the National Party reverence of his younger years (a family inheritance of sorts), James tends to align himself with no particular political positioning, harbouring soft spots for both John McCain and Barack Obama, whilst despising John Key and Michael Cullen in equal amounts.

He has an indecent obsession with chicken and Vince Vaughn, and is always on the lookout for a new friend.

Could that be you?
